Summary scientific events of the year of Giorgi Tsereteli Institute of Oriental Studies

From December 19 to 23, 2024, the G. Tsereteli Institute of Oriental Studies at Ilia State University will hold the final academic events 2024.

  • December 19-21 – Annual International Conference ‘The Middle East and the Caucasus. Culture, History, Politics.’ The conference will summarize the work of the Institute in 2024. The papers to be delivered at the conference will dwell on historical and cultural relations between the Caucasus and the Middle East, Eastern languages and literature, and various aspects of the processes currently unfolding in the Middle East. Apart from the academics of the Institute, the conference will bring together representatives of different Georgian universities and research centers as well as foreign researchers.
  • December 22 – “Perception of Georgia and Armenia in Western and Eastern Sources (Middle Ages and Early Modern period).” The participants of the Project, supported by the Shota Rustaveli National Scientific Foundation (# FR-23-10274), will present papers concerning the Project topic. The results of the first year of the implementation of the Project will be discussed.
  • December 22-23 – International Conference ‘Ethnoreligious Mosaics of Tbilisi (1801-1921)’. The participants and the foreign consultant of the Project, supported by the Shota Rustaveli National Scientific Foundation (# FR- 21-8081), as well as Georgian and foreign researchers, will present papers concerning the Project topic. The final results of the implementation of the Project will be discussed.
